We are now accepting expressions of interest from charities and designers interested in applying to create a fully funded show garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025. This follows our recent announcement that Project Giving Back is extending its programme of funding for gardens for good causes until 2026. Here we explain in more detail the stages and timeline for the application process.
October 9, 2023
Until 3rd November we are accepting expressions of interest from UK charities and designers interested in applying for funding in 2025. Simply complete the online form here. You can apply either for a Show garden, Sanctuary Garden or a small garden in the ‘All About Plants’ category inside the Great Pavilion.
Unlike in previous years, we are only accepting joint approaches from charities and designers who have already formed a partnership. This need not be a formal arrangement at this stage, and you do not need to have worked together previously. However, a strong connection will be beneficial to your partnership, and you should have already had conversations about the application process and the commitment requirement a successful application would have for both parties. If you are a designer looking to approach a charity or vice versa, you might want to share examples about how our previous garden teams in 2022 and 2023 made the most of this exciting opportunity.
Timeline for the 2025 PGB funding application process:
When considering an application for funding, it is worth bearing in mind that undertaking a garden at RHS Chelsea takes considerable time and effort. PGB will cover the cost of creating and building the garden, and some of its relocation costs, but it does not cover PR, marketing, events or fundraising costs, so it is worth thinking about additional resources and budget to make the most of this opportunity.
We are keen to hear from charities with UK-wide reach, and we are particularly interested in those with plans to relocate the garden to areas not previously covered by PGB supported gardens, in particular, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northeast England and East Anglia. We also hope to support a full range of charitable purposes over our five years of funding, so we will place emphasis on causes that cover any gaps as we consider future applications.
DUE DILIGENCE
When we receive expressions of interest from charities and designers, the first stage for us is to conduct due diligence to check that all potential garden teams meet our requirements for funding. The things we will take into consideration during this process include:
